
Dr. Stefan Grzybowski, MD is a family physician researcher and Professor in the University of British Columbia's Department of Family Practice. He is Co-Director of the Centre for Rural Health Research and also the Co-Leader of the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research's BC Rural and Remote Health Research Network. On October 28th, 2009 Dr. Grzybowski was awarded the Family Medicine Researcher of the Year Award, presented at the Family Medicine Forum, the annual conference held by The College of Family Physicians of Canada. As a recipient, Dr. Grzybowski award presentation highlighted his research experience in rural maternity health services, as well as his enduring interest in building research capacity in family medicine primarily
through supporting the development of clinician investigator support. The award honoured Dr. Grzybowski's work in strengthening our understanding of the safety of rural maternity care. Dr. Grzybowski's current CIHR funded grants include a Secondary Analysis of Maternal and Newborn Outcomes linking and comparing data between British Columbia, Alberta, and Nova Scotia as well as a Cost Effectiveness Study of Rural Maternity Services in BC. The Centre for Rural Health Research hosted a CIHR funded international symposium on rural maternity health services in April of 2009.
